Since my last post Pine Grove Baptist Church called me as Minister to Children. It has been an interesting few months. We just completed our VBS this past week, using the Game Day Central material from Lifeway. Lifeway has done an excellent job here in the past few years with the content and the overall product. This is definitely not the VBS from our childhood! I look forward to working with the VBS staff in the coming year.
My main goals now are Children’s Church and Awana. I am leaning towards the 252 Basics curriculum from the ReThink group – simply because it has a core value or virtue for each month and it has an excellent resource to parents. It is important that we reach into homes and allow parents to use their God-given rights for discipling their children.
I would like to thank John Alexander, Minister of Children at Taylors First Baptist, who took time out recently to answer my questions about 252 Basics. For a small church children’s pastor this was awesome and I appreciate his openness and availability.
Now that VBS is over I can focus on Awana for the coming year as well.
I look forward to sharing more about the ministry efforts at Pine Grove in the coming months. God Blessings to my fellow children’s ministers as we reach and teach boys and girls with the gospel.
Sam
